CarMax, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates as a retailer of used cars in the United States. It purchases, reconditions, and sells used vehicles. The company also sells new vehicles under franchise agreements. In addition, CarMax provides a range of related products and services, including the financing of vehicle purchases through its own finance operation and third-party lenders; sale of extended service plans and accessories; appraisal and purchase of vehicles directly from consumers; and vehicle repair services.
