Verizon Communications, Inc. provides communication services worldwide. It has four segments: Domestic Telecom; Domestic Wireless; Information Services; and International. The Domestic Telecom segment provides voice and data transport, enhanced and custom calling features, network access, directory assistance, private lines, and public telephones in 28 states and Washington, D.C. This segment also provides long distance services, customer premises equipment distribution, data solutions and systems integration, billing and collections, Internet access services, and inventory management services. The Domestic Wireless segment provides wireless voice and data services and equipment across the United States. The Information Services segment involves in directory publishing businesses, which includes print directories and SuperPages.com online search services, as well as Web site creation and other electronic commerce services. The International segment includes wireline and wireless communications operations and investments primarily in the Americas and Europe. In addition, the company operates a fiber-optic television service that provides video entertainment. Verizon Communications was incorporated in 1983 as Bell Atlantic Corporation and changed its name as Verizon Communications, Inc. in 2000. The company is based in New York, New York.
